"I  am  passionate   about  VIOLENCE"

The topic that I am most passionate to learn more about is violence. Violence can be anywhere, and can happen on anything-- not just in human, but also you can spot violence in our lovely nature. Choosing this subject as a group topic was made from hope because violence is a pessimistic contribution toward what today’s youth want, which is a peaceful existence in our society. Violence is not something seen once in a year, it is something you are surrounded by everyday. Violence is never meant to be positive but to destroy the serenity that is held by an individual or group of people. Additionally, violence often makes us lose our beloved ones, which no one ever deserves.

"Bring  Extra   Pen"

Some thoughts that comes to mind about the street interview activity we completed today is that it was  good and new skill for a beginning student of New Media Arts to learn. It was hard for many of us to get over our natural character trait of being shy, and to focus on the main question and other questioning strategies we discussed before we went out to ask questions of random people on campus. Something that I learned through this experience is that one should never let someone's words stop you from what you can achieve, not to be shy and whenever do a street interview, give the prospective interviewee a strong welcoming feelings. Also be prepared by bringing extra pens and clipboards, know or have an idea of the setting that we choose, and expect rejection. I believe in street interviews, the setting does influence the interviewee because our prospects were mostly students who rushed to make it on time to their class.

"Its  Expanding  Like  The  Universe"

Violence is a big issue that is faced by our community. Similarly, the causes are huge as its domain. There are two side of the factors that cause people to be violent. According to American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, some factors that increase the risk of a person being violent are: being the victim of physical abuse and/or sexual abuse, introduce to violence in the home and/or community, being the casualty of bullying, exposure to violence in media, use of drugs and/or alcohol, Presence of firearms in the home, combination of stressful family socioeconomic factors (poverty, severe deprivation, marital breakup, single parenting, unemployment, loss of support from extended family) and genetic (family heredity) factors. The last factor was pretty unknown before doing the research  and became very interesting to me. I always thought factor that are out side of your space, those are most likely to create violence. But there is a "Warrior Gene", which is most likely to blame for the violent behavior that a person could have.

"My  Brain  Started  Melting  After  that!"

Developing ideas to alert people about violence wasn't something easy, it took a lot of thinking over and over again. Meaning everyone in my group we had to think in order to organize information that we would provide as our contribution. We had a little drawing to visualize our thought process and sticky notes of some comment.  Putting events like street interviews, expert interviews, etc. in order was mostly decided by group effort. We argued with each other about which of the way a organize idea could look like. I was the organizer in our group, so basically I worked to put things in order. At the end of the day our group work was worth it because we weren't ignoring anyone's idea but adding up to the idea to look more professional.

"Hey  I  Am  Not   Weak"

The most interesting thing about the section that I edited today in the software program, Adobe Premiere premier was the part where expert interviewees from archival and current footage, that the expert were talking about the realities we face every day. If someone hits you in public, it's basically the most insulting thing to a person. As a result that person gets angry and that's where a fight starts. This is because you want to show the public that you are not weak by doing something aggressive to you oppose.

"Ag-a-a-a-in   It Started  To  Melt"

Today we choose the team and roles that we will maintain for the reminder of the program. Some examples of the elements I contributed to the overall project today are brainstorming the structure of main documentary Remix, coming up with ideas of transitioning structure, how to use the Archival video and searching violent video for the intro.

"MEDIA is a SCAPEGOAT"

The most memorable part of DR. Rafael Mendez's interview was when he says "We blame the media as if what’s on the media is provoking violence, rather than the culture of violence . . . the media is one reflection of that violence. The United States provokes, participates in more wars than any other country in the world. We produce more weapons -- um -- so illegal weapons flood or cities, our towns, our neighborhoods -- because they are readily available" his thought actually made me think deeper and so I  found truth in his words. Media visualize what is violence like for a individual but our government provides everything to be violent. Violence starts when we hold the weapons, finding weapons to hold is easy because they are reluctantly available in everywhere.

"Lets  Overcome"

The most challenging thing about the process of creating our group project was creating the storyboard because it was the main part of our remix that we created for our group website. Our story board was created through lots of critical and optimistic thinking. We had to made sure there was good flow, there excellence language, organize structure, balanced evidence and avoiding to become bias.
